The War On Christmas by Bodie Hodge

As we get ready for Christmas it easy to forget about the true meaning of Christmas.  I am a Sunday School Teacher and I found out Jesus is second to Santa Claus, and these are children whose parents grew up in church.  I wanted to bang my head to the wall. Then I received this book for free.  It was fascinating.  I began to read how we lost the true meaning of Christmas believers and non believers.  It was an eye opener.  Bodie Hodge speaks about the Christmas Sermon that really brought conviction to my heart.  In Chapter 13 he talks about the baby Jesus and the need for him.  Every chapter brings you to a clearer understanding of Christmas and how it is more than gifts, decorations.  It is about God and His Son Jesus.  The miracle of Salvation.  The end to a 400 year silence and Gods endless love.  Bodie Hodge Opened my eyes to more than just a war on Christmas.  There is a war and Christians need to be prepared, I truly recommend this book. It will make a great Christmas Gift.  God Bless.

Then Like The Blind Man: Orbie's Story by Freddie Owens

Then Like The Blind Man: Orbie's Story started off slow, but I did like how the author narrates it through the eyes of a child.  It takes place in a time of prejudices, Detroit and Kentucky in the summer.  Orbie stays with his Grandparents while his mother and stepfather head to Florida. He meets new friends and gains a new found courage that he will eventually need later.  There is a long list of characters each one special to Orbie, and the book does get suspenseful as the story progresses you will find yourself not putting it down happy reading.  I received this book for free from BookBub.com

The Designer Bag at the Garbage Dump by: Jackie McGirvin

I received this book for free from BookBub.com. I chose it because I liked the title. The books begin with a typical well to do woman and she has the perfect life. Enough money, a husband who loves her and a wonderful son. Not to mention a beautiful home but this is still not enough. She longs for her fathers approval and she feels that she is not perfect. Well she is a buyer for a store where she lives and she has to go to New York. When she arrives to the train station our lead Character Julie begins her journey meeting Jesus on the train, and her trip has taken a sudden detour to India where she learns to trust and rely more on God than her money. I loved the book their where some corny parts, but the book over all was enjoyable, and actually thought provoking. I reccommend that you pick up The Designer Bag at the Garbage Dump and make this one your reads. Thank you BookBub.com for a great book.

Humphrey was here by: Mark J. Asher

I love dogs and I had recently lost my dog too.  So I picked up the book with compassion and understanding.  The books begin about a man and his close companion Humphrey's.  As his owner describes him I could see what a wonder dog Humphrey's is.  Then the story gets sad.  His owner describes that terrible event when Humphrey passes away.  As I read on the character Mark Asher remind the reader how people discard their animals like yesterday's fashion.  Very sad, but then the book took a turn for the worse.  As Humphrey's owner is recovering from his loss he begins to volunteer.  But then he starts to think maybe he should get a dog and this is when I didn't like the book anymore he plays on the affection of the dogs. He takes a dog home and then decides he is not ready.  He does this about three more times.  I forced myself to read on in hopes that he gets a dog, but he does not.  I was disappointed and annoyed with the book.  I got this book for free from bookbub.com.  Glad I didn't spend my money on this one.

Jacobson and like most young people she is living for today, and running from her past.  I love how the author brought Japan to life for the reader.  It was like being there.  Well in the story Shiloh receives a call from her half sister and has to go back the US and she finds herself in Virginia.  Follow Shiloh on her journey to finding friendship, forgiveness, grace and a new beginning.  Southern Fried Sushi had me laughing, crying, and I could not put it down.  Pick up this book it is not your typical chick book.  I received this book for free from BookBub.com.

Rain Dance

Rain Dance is a special kind of book. It speaks about a very controversial topic Abortion. I know when I first started to read the book I anticipated a in your face how abortion is killing life and God say's thou shall not kill and all the other stereo typical pro-life arguments. Rain Dance is not that kind of book. It is a story about two young women named Staci, and Jonica. Jonica is a believer and she is desperately trying her hardest to get pregnant, but unfortunately she has not been able to have children. Staci is a young career girl who has everything, but gets pregnant. Well Staci and Jonica's path cross and the story begins. This book speaks about abortion and how not only does a child dies, this one act has many victims. The woman who aborted her baby, to the husband, and family members. On the other hand not being able to have children is also another heart break. Their are many people involved that also suffer. This books shares Jonica's journey of acceptance, and Staci's journey of healing from an abortion. See how two women become best friends to even witnessing when God reveals Himself. It is a wonderful book. It has made the list of one of my favorite books. I loved the testimony of Jonica and how she shares the Word to people. She gives people books. This is one thing that I think I will begin to do. Thank you. I received this book for free from Bookbub.com

Thunder Dog: The True Story of a Blind Man, His Guide Dog, and the Triumph of Trust by: Michael Hingson with Susy Flory

Thunder Dog where do I begin. The book was very inspirational, I could not put it down. I am a dog lover, and my favorite dogs are Labs. It has always been a dream of mine to one day own one. After reading the book I have to get one, and soon. Well enough of that. You might be wondering about the book. The main character is Michael Hingson and of course he is blind, but you see he is not your typical idea in your head blind. Michael Hingson is a very independent man. He travels, he graduated college, and he loves technology. He is like everyone. person does. He shares with the reader his life. He gives us first peak on the challenges and triumphs of being blind. His life is very interesting. His parents treated him like his siblings and wanted no less, but his hardest to get along in this world. He did quiet well for himself. Michael Hingson shares his life when he is young all the way to the event of 9/11. As he is experiencing this terrible ordeal he draws from his memory of the events he went through. His dog Roselle by his side and working to complete the task and she does. This book is a must read. I enjoyed every page of the book. I received this book for free from Bookbub.com thank you.

Cook Yourself Thin

Cook Yourself Thin is a great book. It shares with the reader how to cut back on fat and calories while you still enjoy the foods that we love.  I have been on a journey to be healthier.  I don't want to be on a diet I want to make life changing choices that will stick. Cook yourself Thin is one of those cookbooks. I love muffins and desert, and I  was able to find a nice variety of desserts and muffins.  I actually got to see a couple of episodes on Lifetime and I enjoyed the fact that it is doable.  I received this book for free from Bookbub.com.  I hope you add this to your kitchen and begin your journey to cook yourself thin.

Jeremy Camp I Still Believe A Memoir with David Thomas

Jeremy Camp I Still Believe A Memoir with David Thomas was a book I actually purchased. I was going through a rough time spiritually. I did not get a position I thought I should have gotten. I was so disappointed I actually started to question God's love for me. I told God if he really cared for me then why did he not give me that job. Why did God not answer my prayer about anything. I prayed for people to turn back from the things of the world and return to the Lord. I prayed for a long time. God answered those prayers, but He still had not answered the prayers I had before Him concerning my family. I began to think that God wants us to serve others, and just not ask God for anything. I started to wonder if this was any kind of relationship. So one day while I was having my pitty party. I asked God is it all worth it? I went to the book store and I started looking for something. I did not know what I was just looking for a book. Then Jeremy Camp's book fell down from the bookshelves. I kind of was a little spooked because I did not even touch that shelf but yet the book fell down. Well I picked it up and was about to put it back on the shelf where it belonged, but for some reason I read the back cover. The book was about his life and his testimony. I like Jeremy Camp. I enjoy his music so I decided why not get the book. The book begins with Jeremy Camp talking about his love for God, and how his mother and father came to know the Lord. How his family served God and how they grew up poor, but never needing for nothing. God provided for them. Then Jeremy shares about him straying away in high school. Through his testimony I began to think about my circumstances also. I began to wonder if I was trusting God in everything in my life? Then it gets even more personal Jeremy Camps begins to share about his rededication to the Lord, and his willing to serve God in all things. He shares about his early music career and how God provided the way. Then he share the gut wrenching part of his life. The loss of his wife. I knew he had a wife and she passed away but I never knew the details. The book gives one mans testimony of life. The ups and downs. The blessing and gifts from God, and most of all how God does not ever leave you in the times of darkness. I did not reveal the details of the book in hopes that you pick up this book. Jeremy Camps reminds us that every one has trials. It is just who do we hold on too? Ourselves, other or hang on to God. This book helped me when I was searching for answers. It brought me hope, and reminded me that I am loved by God even if He did not give me what I want. Pick up the book it will help you on your walk with God. God Bless.

Skinny Italian by: Teresa Giudice

The title made me actually buy the book. I love Carbs and Italian Food is Carbs. I do not have a television so when the author said she was on the Housewives of New Jersey I did not know what she was talking about. So you can say I did not pick up the book, because of that. It was a cute book. I actually learned some things from the book. She explains real Italian Food, and American version of Italian Food. Like Olive Oil,Butter,Sauteed,Pasta in part of dish,Vegetables,Fresh Italian Cheese,Vegetable Bases Sauces,Sugar in Desert only,Clear Salad Dressing, and Thin Crispy Bread. I loved the book after reading this. The author also talks about sitting at a table not eating on the go. Making your own sauce and the recipe is on my next item to cook list. This book is loaded with authentic Italian Cooking and I am actually going to keep this one on my go to shelf when I have a craving for Italian the healthy and real way. I thought the book was cute, but it is also loaded with real ingredients and real good recipes. I did like a tip from the author she said " don't look at fashion magazines, create your own style and wear what you like". I this book is worth the read and experimenting with Italian Cuisine. "mangia".

The Belly Fat Diet Cookbook by: John Chatham

I am like the millions of women out there looking for the right diet. I have been on a quest searching the books for the right diet that I can adapt to. I do like this one. I gain weight in my middle so I figured hey it is called belly fat diet and I sure have enough of that. Why not read it and if I like it maybe I will start the plan. I read it and I found out that this diet is doable. It begins explaining what the diet is all about, and also tells you the reader that you need to sleep. I figured simple I can do that. Then it explains that we need to drink vitamin C. Eat vegetables, fruit, nuts and healthy oils this is a simple diet and anyone can do it. There are cheat days, and you can have desert. I loved the diet, and I have not even started yet. I did try some of the recipes. I love to snack so I tried the Mini Lettuce Wraps and I loved them. I am not fond of tomatoes so I just eliminated them. I was not missing out on the nutrients, because the recipe is loaded with veggies. I also tried the desert recipes I love sweet so that is what I go to first. The Cocoa and Coconut Banana Slices where good. I also loved the Thumbprint Cookies. I figure The Belly Fat Diet Cookbook gave me alternatives to beginning my way to a healthy way of living. I received this book for free from BookBub.com. I hope you enjoy the recipes I know I am.

Hollywood Nobody by: Lisa Samson

Hollywood Nobody by: Lisa Samson When I saw the cover I thought why not get the book. I received this book for free from ChristianBook.com. I love to read and sometimes I like to get a simple read that has no deep meaning or serious study. This book was a delight to read. I have Tween Nieces and yes they love to read also. I share cute books that I pick up for free and this is one I am seriously going to share with them. Hollywood Nobody is about a young teen Scotty who writes a blog, and lives in a trailer known as the Y. It is a cute story she is not your typical teen. She is self taught and has an adventurous life. Her mom is a food stylist and travels around the United States on movie shoots. So Scotty gets to meet all kinds of different people, and celebrities. I really enjoyed this book. It took me some time to read. Not because the book was boring, but because I was very busy. I am actually going to pick up the other book. I found out it is a Trilogy. It is worth a read, and I am actually going to purchase the other two books. Thank you Christianbooks.com for the great book.

Child 44 by: Tom Rob Smith

Amazing book!! As I began reading this book I was introduced to a series of small little stories. Little did I know that they would be part of a bigger picture. The story takes place in Russia. The story is about a MGB agent Leo and how his life is turned upside down. Everything he believed in is pulled out from under him. Without giving the book away Leo begins his journey to finding meaning. I loved how every page is filled with suspense and paranoia. Every event only leads to a new challenge and you just can't help but wonder if Leo would be able to overcome every obstacle that he must face. I loved this book so much that I finished this book in three days. I just could not put the book down, and I just could not stop talking about this book. As I began telling someone about Child 44 she happened to share with me that this book is a trilogy and they are making a movie. I was thrilled. I am going to be picking up the other two books. If you are looking for a great book this is that book. I received this book for free from bookbub.com.

All I can say they were a hit. My co-workers thought I bought them I took that as a complement. Freshwater Road by: Denise Nicholas

Freshwater Road was written about a time of change. I was excited to read this book. I love Historical and fictional books. It was about a young girl named Celeste. A naive young girl with idealistic dreams in making her mark in the world. Little did she realize how dangerous her summer trip to Mississippi was going to be. I have to admit I liked the book, but it was long. I think I expected more from the book. It would have been nice to have had a little more about the movement and the reason for it. I found myself a little disappointed. The young Celeste was still a little selfish and I wanted more from the ending instead there was no resolution. I received this book for free from BookBub.com.

It Is Well With My Soul by: Shelly Beach

Shelly Beach is a writer, public speaker and college writing instructor. I was given the opportunity to read her latest book. I was given this book for free from Discovery House Publishing. I truly enjoyed the book. This book is a wonderful gift for that special someone who may be going through a dark season in their life. It is also just a wonderful book to find healing and a spiritual comforting of your soul. As I read each intimate story I found a wonderful peace knowing that our God who we serve is a God of love, compassion and understanding. I do not want to give the book away but there was a story about two friends who were traveling on a train, and they were on a tight budget. They shared their food. Well they happened to notice a lady who had a bag of bologna sandwiches. Well the lady ran out of sandwiches and had nothing to eat so when the lady got up to stretch her legs the two friends got what money they had left and gave her a little offering. Well when the lady came back she read the note and accepted the offering. As she turned around she told the two friends I know this was you. She turned around and gave them a hug and they ended up talking and sharing. That is just a small peak of the type of stories you will read. I really loved this book and I will truly give this book to those who need to be reminded that they are not alone.

Drew Brees Coming Back Stronger with Chris Fabrey

I use to like football but players like Michael Vick made me stop watching the game all together. I thought football changed and all athletes where just as bad as those whose scandals hit the 9:00 p.m. News. But that all changed I received this book for free from bookbub.com and I loved this book. Drew Brees made me realize that their still some great players that love the game. Players that you would not be afraid to let your children route for. Coming Back Stronger is an inspirational book. Drew Brees shares his story of injury, recovery, and how he became the Quarterback for the Saints. I can tell you this I routed for him at every page. Drew Brees not only shared the love of football, but also the love and respect he has for God. Drew Brees knew that it was because of God he was able to face the trials in his life. This book is a must read I hope you let it inspire you as it inspired me. God Bless

Top 25 Favorite Dips by: Sara Scott Jane

I love dips, but my dips are sour cream and the little green onion packet. That is my weakness. I try to eat healthy and I even juice every day, but there are times I fall off the wagon and eat a big tub of sour cream dip with Lays Wave Potato Chips so good but so bad. So when I picked this book the title called out to mee. Dips so I read it and I have to tell you I tried two recipes the Hawaii dip that was good with burnt chicken. I also loved the hummus one the recipes are easy to follow and all I can say my taste buds were opened to other great flavors. Pick it up I recieved this book for free from bookbub.com.

When Donkeys Talk by: Tyler Blanski

I must say I requested the book, because the title caught my attention. I really enjoyed parts of the book and other parts were a little bit confusing. What I did leave after reading the book is anytime anyone is on the quest to seek the meaning of life is too seek God. There are two types of Christians and they are those who believe in God, and those who have a personal relationship with God. The word of God points to Jesus. He is the only way to God. If you would like to read about the miracles of God and how true Christianity is not for the light hearted pick up the book. I received this book for free from NetGalley.com and did not have any influence on my review

Every Body Matters by Gary Thomas

I just loved, loved, loved this book. I purchased this book after listening to Focus on the Family. I was intrigued by a part of the book the author was reading about the sloth in the Bible and the modern day version of it. I finished this book in four days. It is truly an inspirational book. I have been on my journey to getting healthy and fit but I came to a halt. After reading this book I am getting back on track. We should not become soft but ready for what good work God has for us. Thank you for such a great book I am now inspired to reboot my fitness and healthy lifestyle. If you feel it is time for a change. That you are tired of feeling. The way you feel. Ask God to help you and pick up this book it will help you in the right direction. God Bless

The Sonoma Diet Cookbook by Connie Guttersen

I have been on a journey to eat healthier. Before I was the drive thru queen, but after I was told that I treated my body as a trash can I began my journey to eating healthier. After talking to my Nutritionist and told her that I was getting tired of juices and eating salad. She told me that The Sonoma Diet Cookbook would be a great eating plan for me. So after hanging up the phone I went online and purchased this book on Apples Ibooks. I am experimenting with olive oil and low calorie dinners. I really am enjoying this new journey, and even considering taking some cooking classes at Whole Foods. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I am.

Low-Calorie Side Dish and Salad Recipes by Joan Holcomb

I love to cook but along with preparing the meals, and tasting to make sure everything comes out perfect, the extra calories come with my passion to cook. I received this book for free from Bookbub.com. I was excited to try the recipes out. I tried the vinaigrettes and the side salads and they were a hit. I love that the recipes are delicious and not loaded with calories. I am really enjoying the book and will continue to use it as my go to book for light recipes. Republic A Novel of America's Future by: Charles Sheehan-Miles

I received this book for free from bookbub.com. The title was interesting so I ended up choosing this book. I like history books and even though it was a fictional book I found parts of the book eerie. The author incorporated actual historical events into the book. I enjoyed the book but towards the end it was a long ending. The war and the end of story was not really what I was hoping for. Over all the book was about a three star.

It's Just You and Me Lord by: Marion Stroud

It's Just You and Me Lord was a lovely and intimate book.  I did not know what to really expect when I requested this book.  I was not disappointed the book is actually about women and their prayers that they tell to God.  It was so intimate that I was very moved.  After reading the book I had to actually examine my own prayer life and realized I needed to begin my intimate talks with God just as these ladies have done. I really enjoyed the book and I recommend this book to all women.  It is a very moving and wonderful book and I am sure you will enjoy it as I have.

I received this book for free from NetGalley.com and Discovery House Publishing.  This review is solely on  my thoughts of the book and I was not influenced in any way.  Thank you for the opportunity to read this book.

Second Chances More Stories of Grace by: Max Lucado

Loved loved this book. I an a great fan of Max Lucado and I would like to tell you I was not disappointed. Second Chances is a book of how God gives us second chances all the time. I had to keep a box of tissue next to me. I would read a chapter and I would just begin to cry. You are reminded on every page of the endless Grace, Love & Mercy God gives us every day, and we are so undeserving of that kind of love, but God gives it to us. My favorite story of the book is about the redeeming daughters. The one who danced with her daddy, and the one who's mom posted her photo all over the city. Their we're so many other stories but I do not want to give the book away. You would just have to buy the book and read for yourself.

I received this book for free from NetGalley.com and Thomas Nelson Publishing. This review was my opinion of the book and was not obligated to write a good or bad review. Thank you

The Call To Work A Biblical Perspective by: Robert H. Erdmann

We as Christians wonder about their work and how God sees it. In the book the author discusses the history of work from The Beginning of Genesis to the Industrial Revolution. the book began slow but then I would come across a chapter that would capture my attention. Such as in chapter 4. In this chapter Jesus speaks about the humility of the lesser one and how we should apply this attitude of humility and all that we do be to Gods glory and not to puff ourselves up. In the end the author touches on our desire to have meaning. God leads us to talents and gifts and as we get older we develop our gifts and use them to bring glory to God. We were created to please God with our talents, and we should be happy with the gifts that God has given. We must remember there is no other like us. So no matter our vocation, or call do it with great joy so that we bring glory to God. I enjoyed this book and I would recommend you add this to your library.

Baking Basics by Pat Sinclair

I have always loved to cook and bake, but I have to admit I am not a real baker. I always take short cuts. I am what you would call a semi-homemade baker. When I received this book I opened it immediately. I loved the recipes I actually made from scratch a butter cake with a butter cream frosting. I was so proud and happy that the recipe was so easy to follow. I love this book and I am now going to make all my deserts from scratch. I received this book for free from bookbub.com.

The Total Money Makeover by: Dave Ramsey

I must admit I have had this book for about a year. I finally got sick and tired of ending the year with no money and being negative in my checking account. I started to see my future through my mother. She is 75 years old and is maxed out in life. She has claimed bankruptcy twice back in debt and refinanced her house and is now in debt for 350,000 . So I finally opened the book. I want to say I had no hope getting out of debt or even owning a home some day. I do not have a college education and thought going to college was out of reach at least for me, but after reading this book Dave Ramsey gave me back my hope. I am starting baby step 1 and then I will tackle me debt snowball. I am going to live like no one else so later I can live like no one else. I look forward to my future. Dave Ramsey made going to college a goal I can attain, and that if I accomplish my steps that one day I can buy a home and pay cash. Everyone should read this book I am going to buy two books and gift them to my grown children so we can break the cycle of being fat, broke and maxed out on life. Thank you Dave Ramsey.
